Unfortunately I’m not referring to my husband or any other sexy man on the planet… I’m referring to my 3 year old who has been with fever since yesterday afternoon. I’m not talking low grade fever either. His temperature has been hovering between 102.5-103.5 all night. Oh and lets not even mention that one time last night (and once this morning) he vomited, puked, threw up, upchucked (is there a more disgusting word in the universe? I think not!).

I hate sickness. Especially in little kids that you can’t seclude from the rest of the family. I know… that sounds sorta Kate Gosselin-ish- no I didn’t make him sleep on the floor in the laundry room! It’s just that my OCD comes out when sickness comes into the house and I try my best to make sure everyone in the household doesn’t get it. If it were one of the teenagers, I’d just ban them to their room until it was over (while checking in on them of course!) I’m a Lysol-ing, steam cleaning, hand washing freak at times like these. But alas, I’m quite sure Makenzie and I will be the next victims since we are the ones who are always around Devin. Blech. I despise to throw up. I despise to have kids throwing up. I’m not one of those people who gags from it or anything… it just makes me feel like I can’t get things clean enough afterward. Ugh… and the laundry. As if I don’t have enough of that in this house of seven…

And…I guess so much for mine and David’s date tomorrow. Finally all of the planets had aligned (or some other cosmic occurrence) and the in-laws had actually offered to watch the little kids for us so we could go out to celebrate our anniversary. If I were a betting woman, (which I’m not) I’d bet that either Devin will still be sick or someone else will be sick by then and we won’t get to go. Damn. David and I haven’t been on a date since I was pregnant with Makenzie. She’s almost 19 months old. And that was just one date since Devin was born. He’s 3 1/2. Seriously. We need a date!

Ah well… I’m just thankful that it’s just the puke virus and nothing worse. I’m quite blessed to have pretty healthy kids, so even though this sickness came at a bad time, I am still counting my blessings because it could most certainly be worse. Someone remind me of those words when I’m puking… will you?!
