LITERALLY! I started up the stairs last night to take Devin to his room for bed and I smell smoke. Just as I hit the top of the stairs and knock on Dakota’s door- the smoke alarms start going off!
My son, a three year old trapped in the body of a 16 year old, is burning a piece of soap in a coke can (because he said it smelled good)…and this is not the first time he’s burned things in his room. When we had only been in our house about six months, he and his friend were burning paper in his room and he ended up burning a hole in our brand new carpet!
I have preached to him over and over and over about not playing with fire- he is going to burn our house down one day with us in it!!! Makenzie was asleep in her room right next to his. It scares the hell out of me to think what “could” have happened.
When is this boy EVER gonna grow up and stop being stupid?!
I called David at work to tell him and he said several choice words… and that isn’t like him at all- I’m the potty mouth of the family ;)
I seriously don’t know what to do with this kid. He’s fine for a few days and then does something idiotic like that. I am pretty sure David is going to take his room door off the hinges today- just for our safety… aaaaaaahhhhhhhh!
I think I’m going to take him looking for a job today because obviously the boy has too much time on his hands. When will he understand that his actions affect EVERYONE in this house?!

Holy Cow!
I think that those are both good options. I wonder if the fire department has a program on fire safety that he could go to (more to embarass him than anything). YIKES and (((hugs)))
YIKES!
omg I would freak! I think those are good “punishments”. Also, Joe burnt his bed completely up when he was little. BOYS! I would have beat him lol! However, when Joe was a JR in HS, his whole house burnt down. They lost EVERYTHING! Joe had the clothes on his back and that was it! It still gets to him to this day!
HUGS
OMG!!! That sounds scary. I would offer some spectacular advice, however, I dont have any at the moment…lol No, seriously, I dont know what you do about that but I might see if you could make him volunteer somewhere…maybe the fire dept if they let him?? I would definately take the door off AND go through all of his “stuff”…which Im sure youve already done. Sounds like Dakota “just doesnt get it” when it comes to playing with fire.
good luck!!
well since he has a male brain I think it’ll be a some time until he learns haha. Maybe just maybe he wants to be a future fire fighter. I totally agree with taking the door off the hinges though.
